let’s say I have a kayak trailer that was built and weight tested for two kayaks and about 400 pounds can I overload that with more kayaks without an issue. Basically, as long as they can fit. Is it okay to have them there.
the question here becomes legal weight. There is actually a legal carrying capacity that kayak trailers have and if you go over this capacity. The trailer can in fact, it becomes illegal in the eyes of the law and you can get stop for this and given a fine. If you are in a more rural area and are driving off to a lake or river not too far away from you. You can probably get away with more but it’s not recommended.
To find out what the legal allowed weight is for your trailer. Please consult your user’s manual.
